Symbol & Color Reference

Similar to the PFD, the Multi-Function Display, or MFD, is one of the central components in a cockpit. Its primary function is to display a navigation map and/or a visual representation of the flight plan.

when within a caution range of:
  • less than 1000ft vertical separation, OR

Colors

Commonly used Colors

Seafoam Green
Projections based on sensor data, for example the PFD flight path vector, the airspeed increase/decrease indication in the PFD airspeed indicator, or the MFD flight path projection.
Aquamarine Blue
Autopilot target values, such as heading, altitude or vertical speed.
Magenta
Course indications based on the FMS (satellite navigation or intertial navigation system). Also used for active flight plan legs.
Green
VOR & TACAN based navigation cues.
Gold
Usually used for cautions, such as airspeed above VNO (maximum structural cruising speed). Also used for the aircraft reference symbol in the PFD's default style.
Red
Warnings, such as airspeed above VNE (never exceed speed).

Airspace Colors

Airspace boundaries and indicators are color coded as follows:

Deep Red
Prohibited airspace.
International Orange
Restricted, Danger and Temporarily Restricted airspace.
Also, airspace for which the airspace type and airspace class are unknown.
Dark Magenta
Airspace classes A, B, C, D.
Royal Blue
Control Zones (CTR).
Dove Gray
Radio Mandatory Zones (RMZ) and Transponder Mandatory Zones (TMZ).
Forest Green
Flight Information Regions.
Dark Yellow
Glider & Aerobatic areas.

Topographic Imagery Color Ramp

EYEVIONICS Topographic Imagery uses a hypsometric color ramp. Note that when Terrain Alert is enabled, this might override some of the colors of the Topographic Imagery.
